The first ministerial meeting of the China-Vietnam "3+3" strategic dialogue on diplomacy, defense and public security, the world's first of its kind, was held in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi on March 16.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong and Minister of National Defense Dong Jun chaired the meeting alongside their counterparts in Vietnam, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
According to Wang's remarks at a press briefing following the meeting, the foreign ministers of China and Vietnam have held a strategic dialogue, and the public security ministries of the two countries have held the ninth ministerial conference on collaborative crime combat, signing multiple cooperation documents, including counter-terrorism.
Wang also revealed that the militaries of the two countries will hold the 10th border defense friendship exchange and organize a number of activities such as joint patrols and joint training of naval fleets.
The Vietnamese side, according to Xinhua, noted that Vietnam is willing to work hand-in-hand with China to prepare for high-level exchanges, promote cooperation in various fields, and strengthen multilateral coordination.
Both sides agreed to hold the next 3+3 strategic meeting in China at an appropriate time.
