Industries like commercial aerospace, robotics and low-altitude aviation are transforming Chinese cities, not only first-tier metropolises like Beijing and Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, but also inland ones. As a driver of AI innovation and commercial space industries, Beijing has generated positive spillover to a number of northern cities such as Tangshan, Hebei Province and Datong, Shanxi Province, where heavy manufacturing and coal production are being replaced by computing and AI scenario testing. In Chengdu, Sichuan Province, booming private enterprises are using AI for biomedical exploration. In Jinan, Shandong Province, steel manufacturing is giving way to the low-altitude industry and new-energy vehicles. Spearheading smart industries, Shenzhen has built open-source platforms to facilitate partnerships among different enterprises, while Suzhou, Jiangsu Province has given full play to upgrading the manufacturing sector. Experts believe the torrents of smart technologies will reshape China's urban industrial layout in the coming years.
