China released the world's first full-scope carbon accounting platform, the Panshi Yuheng Carbon Accounting Large Model 1.0, on April 8, a new technological milestone in measuring global carbon emissions.

Developed by the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the system uses advanced databases, computing power and algorithms to track carbon footprints and carbon transfers in cross-border trade, as well as the scope and intensity of carbon emissions. It covers carbon from production, consumption and natural sources.

Supported by a 32 billion parameter AI model that generates a multi-dimensional, high-precision holographic carbon map, the platform upgrades traditional carbon accounting and addresses its key drawbacks like low accuracy and long processing cycles.

Experts said the innovation will strongly support China's carbon peaking and neutrality goals and will boost China's technological voice in global climate governance by providing dynamic monitoring and tracking of global carbon flows.
