China has intensified efforts to direct job hunters, particularly fresh graduates, to seek opportunities in small- and medium-sized private manufacturers, countryside communities and nursing homes, which lack well-trained employees. There are 4.5 million vacancies in jobs involving digitally controlled high-end machines and robotic products, and there are 25 million vacancies for tech staff in digital and IT industries. However, more than half of the graduates in 2024 favored more secure jobs in State-owned enterprises or as civil servants, even though there are fewer openings. There are programs to encourage students to work in rural areas where agricultural products and cultural tourism are burgeoning through online promotions, creating business opportunities for young entrepreneurs. Job hunting apps enable the seamless connection between jobs and job hunters. Still, as experts point out, given the increase in college graduates, employment remains under pressure.
