Digital Economy Development to Be Prioritized

China’s State Council issued China’s first national plan for the digital economy in February, proposing to increase the value added rate of core digital industries to 10 percent of total GDP by 2025, and establish a world-leading fair and mature digital economy market system by 2035.

China’s State Council issued China’s first national plan for the digital economy in February, proposing to increase the value added rate of core digital industries to 10 percent of total GDP by 2025, and establish a world-leading fair and mature digital economy market system by 2035.
 
The document details the plans for eight areas, including upgrading digital infrastructure, promoting industrial digitalization and digital industrialization,improving digital public services, and setting up a complete administration system for the digital economy.  

The document lists 11 key projects related to the eight areas.  

Analysts said the document provides clear guidance and direction for the development of the digital economy which is helpful to promote the construction of digital infrastructure in impoverished western and rural areas, and improve digital data sharing and cooperation between eastern and western China. The emphasis on the administration of the digital economy market will improve the supervision of data collection and sharing.
