The central government issued a ban on pharmaceutical promotional representatives from making drug sales directly.

The central government issued a ban on pharmaceutical promotional representatives from making drug sales directly. It stipulated that these reps should only take part in non-sales activities such as academic promotion and technical consultation, and if they break the rules, it will be recorded in their personal “social credit” record. Commentators supported this reform, saying it could press these reps to return to their original positions and thus normalize the pharmaceutical industry. Others urged authorities to pay attention to the employment of a large number of sales representatives who would leave the field as a result of these measures.
