America's Kung Fu Grandma

Nancy Fiano, in her late sixties, has won several Chinese martial arts awards

By Xie Yi Updated Nov.14

Nancy Fiano first encountered Taichi in the early 1990s and was fascinated by the graceful movements of this unique Chinese martial art. She began studying it and was later introduced to other schools, such as Bagua and Xingyi. After two decades of practicing, and now in her late sixties, Nancy's dream about martial arts eventually came true - she was awarded 5th degree black belt and 8th 'Dan level'.

Along her journey into Chinese martial arts, Nancy has proved that the moves are not only a type of self-defense, but also a path to develop one's consciousness and create balance in the unification of mind, body and spirit.
