By NewsChina Updated May.1

From January 2019 to November 2020, more than 33,000 people received legal assistance from prosecutorial organs across the country, with aid funds reaching 489 million yuan (US$75m). In addition, judicial organs partnered with poverty relief agencies in a bid to eradicate cases which cause people to slide back into poverty because of lawsuits. The Supreme People’s Court is also planning to construct a database for legal aid cases to link courts of different levels and push legislation on legal assistance. Experts argue that greater efforts should be made to support minors in litigation and victims of sexual abuse.
