China Tourism Academy predicted that domestic travel and incomes will drop by 15.5 percent and 20.6 percent on a yearly basis due to the coronavirus. Alongside the success of the fight against the pandemic in China, domestic travel is likely to witness a peak in the eight-day holiday starting October 1, according to a report by iResearch, an internet consultancy firm based in Shanghai. In July, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism released a notice to encourage the full resumption of the tourism sector. During the pandemic, many scenic areas upgraded their facilities and strengthened staff training, and tourists are expected to receive better services and experiences. Meanwhile, it is of crucial importance to forestall large crowds in an indoor environment. The agency also encouraged cultural and tourism organizations including museums to introduce more digital tourism products through technologies such as virtual reality to meet the growing needs of travelers.
