China’s State Council published a white paper titled China and the World in the New Era on September 27, emphasising that China’s development is not a threat or challenge, rather an opportunity for the world.

The paper listed comprehensive data and facts to interpret how China has endeavored to become the world’s second-largest economy over the past seven decades and attributed the achievements to always adhering to the leadership of the Communist Party of China and keeping to a development path that suits China’s conditions.

The paper said that China’s development depends on a peaceful and stable international environment and that China will never walk toward hegemony. It emphasized that China is a major stabilizer and driver of world economic growth, and its overall opening-up will bring the world more opportunities and public good.

The paper finally pledged that China will never change its determination to be more open and inclusive. It called on all countries to unite and cooperate for a shared future, an idea that Chinese President Xi Jinping has reiterated at many international events.
