Industrialization of Education

Education at elementary and secondary schools nationwide has frequently been criticized by parents over poor teaching quality and utilitarianism. Some teachers work part time to teach students in extracurricular classes simply for lucrative reasons, making education one of the most bankable industries. According to an HSBC report in 2017, China has an after-class training market of US$120 billion and 93 percent of Chinese parents send their children to extracurricular classes. The industrialization of education has brought a huge economic burden to parents and caused additional pressure to students. There is an urgent need to reform evaluation criteria, which rests simply on scores, while regulating the chaotic after-class training market.
