The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced that all civilian drones weighing more than 250 grams have to be registered under the users’ real names from June 1. This regulation aims to guarantee the safety of passenger flights and stop drones interfering with flights, since in April more than 50 flights had to divert to other airports and over 10,000 passengers were delayed due to civilian drones. Zhang Ruiqing, deputy director of CAAC, claimed real name registration for drone users is a common international practice.
