China was a follower in the previous industrial revolutions, but when the world is embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution, China is at the same starting line as developed countries, reported the China News Service.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution, based on the Internet, AI, big data and other new-generation technologies, will lead to a significant shift in manufacturing, and all-round reforms can create smart production, digital integration, a shared economy, and other new paradigms, Hou Xue, a deputy director of the Emerging Industry Research Institute at the China Center for Information Industry Development, said.
China has also made significant breakthroughs in value-added manufacturing, such as innovative rail equipment and the development of new materials, Hou added, stressing that the shift to a consumption-based economy has sparked a massive adjustment toward smart logistics and supply chains.
China's Internet has also developed very quickly, based on advanced facilities, a broad user base, and high-quality applications, Industry and Information Technology Minister Miao Wei said at the China Internet Conference.
