The China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) reiterated that the quality of milk powder is a core task of food safety supervision on February 27, and announced that they will more strictly supervise the source of the milk, the production process and the quality of the end product, in particular upholding the penalties for counterfeit powders. Bi Jingquan, director of the CFDA, explained the details of all parts of the supervision process, stressing that ambiguous publicity and vague indications, such as the source of the imported milk and other ingredients, or claims of enhancing a baby’s immunity or intelligence are banned.
